Teacher Capacity Building

Teachers Capacity Building Program

Youth Foundation Nepal works closely with teachers from our partner public schools in rural communities, recognizing teachers as an essential part of creating meaningful and lasting change in children’s education.

Our Teachers Capacity Building Program is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, practical skills, and insights required to effectively use and sustain the educational resources and approaches introduced through our projects. We promote inclusive participation, ensuring that teachers of all genders and from different subject areas have opportunities to participate and benefit from the training.

Building Skills Around Our Education Projects

Our capacity-building activities are closely connected to the projects we implement in schools. Teachers receive practical guidance and training in areas such as:

* School Library and Reading Education– encouraging reading culture, effective use of library resources, reading and writing activities, storytelling, and child-centered learning.

* E-Library and Digital Education– developing teachers’ confidence in using computers, e-library resources, digital learning platforms, educational applications, and technology alongside existing curriculum and textbooks.

* Art in Education– using drawing, visual arts, creative expression, and hands-on activities as tools for teaching and learning.

* Theatre in Education-introducing drama, role-play, storytelling, and performance-based activities to make classroom learning more interactive and engaging.

* Creative and Experiential Learning– encouraging teachers to use practical, participatory, and activity-based approaches that allow children to learn through exploration and experience.

* Integrating Digital Resources with the Curriculum– supporting teachers to connect digital resources and educational technologies with their existing subjects and course books rather than treating technology as a separate activity.

Learning Through Practice

Our training goes beyond lectures and presentations. Teachers are actively involved in hands-on, creative, and collaborative activities, allowing them to experience the same learning approaches that they can later introduce to their students.

Depending on the project and its requirements, training may take place through residential programs in Kathmandu, where teachers from partner schools come together for intensive learning, or directly in the project communities and schools, allowing training to be closely connected to the local context and resources available at the school.

We aim to ensure balanced participation across different subjects and teaching levels, so that the benefits of the project extend beyond a single group of teachers or a particular subject area.

Learning from Experts

Our training programs are facilitated by experienced practitioners and specialists from relevant fields, bringing together expertise in education, digital learning, library development, theatre, arts, technology, and other areas of creative pedagogy.

Through this combination of expert-led learning, hands-on practice, peer exchange, and project-based application, Youth Foundation Nepal seeks to strengthen teachers’ capacity to create more engaging, inclusive, creative, and digitally supported learning environments for children in rural public schools.
