Library Building Project – Shree Golmeswori Basic School
The Library Building Project at Shree Golmeswori Basic School, located in Mandandeupur Municipality–04, Jagrumti, Kavre, was successfully completed in July 2021 through a joint initiative of Books for Change, Switzerland, and the local government, with active support from the school and local community.
The completed project established a safe, welcoming, and child-friendly library that provides students with a dedicated space for reading, learning, creativity, and independent exploration. The library has improved students’ access to educational resources and encouraged the development of regular reading habits and a positive learning culture.
As part of the implementation, the library space was organized and equipped with books and learning materials, while basic systems for effective library use and management were established. The school and local stakeholders were actively involved, helping to strengthen ownership and promote the continued use and sustainability of the facility.
The project also included teacher training on library management and sustainable operation. Teachers were oriented on book organization, record keeping, library use, and methods for encouraging students to engage with library resources and reading activities.
