Gulmi Education Project

The Gulmi Education Project at Shree Dharmapur Secondary School, Satyawati Rural Municipality–03, Thulo Lumpek, Gulmi, was successfully completed in March 2021 with the support of Books for Change, Switzerland, in collaboration with Satyawati Rural Municipality. The project aimed to improve access to quality learning resources and create a supportive and child-friendly educational environment.

A major achievement of the project was the establishment of separate primary and secondary libraries in two school buildings, providing students with safe and welcoming spaces for reading, learning, creativity, and independent study. The libraries have contributed to developing reading habits and strengthening students’ access to educational materials.

The project also included a child sponsorship support program, helping children facing financial or social challenges to continue their education and participate actively in school activities.

To address power interruptions and support digital learning, a 2.6 kW solar-powered backup system was installed, providing a reliable and sustainable energy source for the school’s learning facilities. Computers and laptops were also provided to strengthen students’ digital literacy and support technology-based teaching and learning.

Teachers received basic training in library management, computer use, and effective facility operation, enabling the school to manage and sustain the resources effectively. The completed project continues to contribute to improved learning opportunities and educational development for children in the community.
